| The PYT One Week module of the program is the experiential week, when participants gain an in depth experience of Yoga as a vehicle for healing through extensive practice of Yoga's healing tools. The one week program gives students time to experience and explore these key aspects of Yoga in detail in order to sense the healing qualities within themselves and gain a depth of understanding so they can share them with others. The healing tools of yoga which we explore during the one week include:
Asana as a healing modality - Participants will experience two complete yoga classes per day. One is a gentle healing class in which beath, movement, and guided imagery come together to create a deep experience of integration of the whole person. The second yoga class is moderate to vigorous, allowing participants to explore and discover how yoga works to remove the blockages and limitations within our being in order to take us to deeper levels of understanding and self awareness. Mudra as the key to unlocking the energy body - Through the practice and study of mudra we come to understand on a deep and subtle level the energetic nature of our being and how these energies can be balanced for health, healing, and integration. Fifty major mudras will be studied and experienced in the context of "mudra families" which simplifies understanding their effects and makes them easier to remember. Yoga Sutras, the Heart of Yoga - The Yoga approach to healing is unique in that it sees illness as a form of separation from the body, the breath, nature, parts of ourselves, other people, and from God. The integration of the person at all of these levels is Yoga Therapy. In this course we learn how classical Yoga texts, including the Yoga Sutras, supported by the Upanishads, form the heart and foundation of Yoga Therapy. Science of Meditation - We will study meditation as a true science of health and healing, including the eight major approaches which give us a wide variety of meditation skills to use both in classes and in individual sessions. Our explorations will include a balance between approaches that give an experience of the higher self and those that remove obstacles. Yoga Nidra for healing - Yoga Nidra is a specific ten-step healing process which balances the physical body, clears energetic blocks, integrates mind and emotion, and brings the receiver into a state of oneness. The teaching of Yoga Nidra is an art and science in itself and the practice can be directed towards the need of individuals with specfic health challenges. We will study the basic format of Yoga Nidra and also learn the most important elements and variations that can be included within it in order to create Yoga Nidras which are tailored to a group or aparticular individual. The Art of Living - Yoga is ultimately the discovery of the mystery and magic of our own daily lives. All of the techniques of Yoga provide a total approach to life, health and healing. The tools of Yoga are techniques for discovering the truth of life within ourselves. This truth is the Water of Life and in order to share it with others, we need to drink fully and deeply ourselves. In order to be well, we need to live well, which includes opening our hearts to ourselves, to others and to life. In this course we'll practice together learning to live truly and well. |
